Weight Loss Secret #1 - Reflect on all of the choices that you make. When you look at yourself in the mirror while you are eating, it may actually help you to consume as much as between 22 and 32 percent fewer calories.

Weight Loss Secret #2 - Before you pry open the packaging for a favorite treat, do something physical. Drop down and do 10 sit ups or 10 push ups as doing something that is physical like this can put you in touch with your body again, reminding you of your goals.

Weight Loss Secret #3 - Savor your food to stretch it out. When you really want a treat like a fresh baked cookie, savor that cookie by savoring the smell for 30 seconds, and then placing a small piece on your tongue and enjoying it for an additional 30 seconds. Studies show that when you take in the smell and the taste and really savor it, it can help you to stop at just the one cookie.

Weight Loss Secret #4 - Enjoy a bowl of chunky soup. When people ate soup that contained large pieces of vegetables, they reported feeling much fuller after, and ate 20% less during their lunch period than those that ate pureed soup varieties, even though they were made of the exact same ingredients.

Weight Loss Secret #5 - You can blot the fat out of meats and food like pizza to dab off as much as a teaspoon worth of oil, which adds up to 40 calories but a startling 4.5 grams worth of fat in just two slices of pizza for example.

Weight Loss Secret #6 - Skip lighter foods, because the weight of the food does contribute to filling you up, it isn't just about the fat and the calories. You can eat less while still feeling satisfied when you choose low calorie but heavy weight foods like strawberries, oranges, cantaloupe, grapefruit, spinach, greens and broccoli.

Weight Loss Secret #7 - Eat more fish, because fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, or at least many varieties are. Strive to eat mackerel, tuna, cod and salmon and you may be able to drop more lbs simply by improving your body's metabolism of fat. When overweight people ate a diet that was reduced calorie and featured fish every day, they lost as many as 20 percent more weight than the people that did not eat any fish.

Weight Loss Secret #8 - Drink enough water. Dehydration is capable of slowing down your metabolism by as much as 3%, which can mean 5lbs extra gained every single year.
