Chromium Picolinate

From the Jumpstart Medicine Handbook... I highly recommed Jumpstart. I have a special offer for anyone in wanting to try Jumpstart in Redwood City or Mountain View: $25 off your first visit (just print it and bring it to your appointment).

Chromium Picolinate is the most absorbable form of chromium, a rare mineral often deficient in the American diet.  Research suggest that chromium deficiency may play a role in the onset of diabetes.  Chromium works well with inositol to decrease bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL).

Confessional and Recommitment

I have been slipping... I hadn't been going to Jumpstart Medicine since my last weigh in. I rationalized this for a lot of reasons, but the bottom line is that I let down my guard and allowed myself to slip into some old habits. Worse I maintained this blog as if it wasn't happening, I didn't tell me readers, and I continued the slide...

I have a ton of excuses... None of them matter... Dr. Sean Bourke at Jumpstart not only was understanding but incredibly encouraging. I highly recommend them.. In fact, I have a special offer for anyone in wanting to try Jumpstart in Redwood City or Mountain View: $25 off your first visit (just print it and bring it to your appointment).

I am back on the wagon, heading down the ladder...

So how bad did it get? I gained 17.4 pounds in the past 56 days... Considering what I had lost to that point I am still in good shape (yet another excuse), but I am personally appalled and personally disgusted with myself. I thought I was changing my habits only to have them slip back in on my first business trip while dieting.

So enough self flagellating. Reset. Here we go down the ladder. I do have a question though? How many of you have had a similar experience and how did you over come it? Mr Low Body Fat, Andrew, Anyone else?

Weight Lost: 47 pounds in 7 weeks… Under 1 Pound Weight Loss This Week

After 7 weeks on the medically assisted weightless program JumpStart medicine with Dr. Sean Bourke, I have lost 47 pounds in 52 days. This week I lost 0.6 pounds and achieved only 11.1% of my weekly goal. I highly recommed Jumpstart. I have a special offer for anyone in wanting to try Jumpstart in Redwood City or Mountain View: $25 off your first visit (just print it and bring it to your appointment).

Here is a graph of my weight loss (if you are reading this in the future this graph will have updated for future weigh ins as well)... Clicking the image will open to a larger image.

What happened? Oh boy is this a long story (to be told over multiple blog posts)... I played full court basketball for the first time this week. Great! What a workout! My week was going great full court on Saturday, more basketball on Monday, and playing volleyball on Tuesday when it happened...

My teammate passed the ball to the setter and I was backing up to position for the approach for the spike... When I changed directions (not even a very athletic move) there was loud pop and I thought who just throw a rock at the ground at my foot. I stopped playing and spent the rest of the week figuring out what had just happened... But this being the post about my weigh in I will stop there...

And I ate a little too much the night before the weigh-in and I did not exercise for the remainder of the week after the incident at volleyball...

I am sticking to the diet, but I am reducing my expectations (4.8 pound goal for next week aka end at the same goal weight as last week) given that I will not be able to work out at the same intensity...

So with less chance to work out my new plan is to continue to stick to the diet and to look for opportunities to work out... Given that I am currently non weight bearing and on crutches I am hoping that crutches alone will be good exercise....

3 lbs in 7 days — Weigh In #2

After an incredible 22lbs in the first 10 days, my progress this week seems pedestrian. My weigh in was not with with Dr Sean Bourke as he was on vacation... Instead I meet another of the doctors of Jumpstart Medicine Dr Sooji Rugh. I highly recommed Jumpstart. I have a special offer for anyone in wanting to try Jumpstart in Redwood City or Mountain View: $25 off your first visit (just print it and bring it to your appointment).

While my progress slowed it was still 3 lbs in a week... I expect that my weightloss slowed down because after the 1st week I was a little less careful about portion control and a little less diligent about getting exercise. I also cheated on one day.

I only achieved 30% of the weeks weight loss goal (mine not the doctors) and so I will set the goal again this week at 10 pounds. My take away is that if I want to achieve the weight loss as quickly as safely possible I need to stick to the diet and exercise more. This week I will attempt to exercise every day and not cheat on the diet at all.

At the weigh in the doctor talked about reading the labels on food. Not counting fiber carbohydrates and looking for lean protein. She also talked about how adding fiber to food (yogurt for example) while not reducing the countable carbohydrate count, will actually reduce the glycemic index of the food.
