I have always been a big fan of video games. I don't play them very often anymore... if I do I usually stop after no more than a week. I just have too much to do and too many other things that are more important. That being said I ran across an advertisement for My Weight Loss Coach for the Nintendo DS. It is a game the will help supposedly help you lose weight. I have not tried it, have you? Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.
Here is the advertisement...
Play to Lose
My Weight Loss Coach is a new game that helps you lose weight by encouraging you to adopt healthier habits. It was developed by a nutritionist and includes great tips that are easy to incorporate into your everyday life. Tips like flexing your stomach muscles every time you walk through a doorway.
The game comes with a pedometer that records the steps you take and helps you stay on track with you goals. At the end of the day, just plug the pedometer into your Nintendo DS system to see how you're doing. And it's more affordable than diet programs and gym memberships! So as you trim down, your wallet will stay its plump old self.
My Weight Loss Coach. It's an easy, almost too easy, path to a healthier you.

My wife got a copy of this “game” for her birthday and it’s precisely as advertised – a fun little weight loss coach who gives you tips, challenges and goals to help with the process of losing weight. Each card will only take info for a single “player,” so I purchased a second one for myself. While we haven’t had them long enough to provide a “We’ve lost X pounds in just Y weeks” kinda of endorsement, we find ourselves motivated to meet our goals in a way we never have in the past.
@Steve
Thanks for the information… It seems like a very interesting idea… What is your favorite tip so far?
Can anyone tell me if this game has a set weight limit or BMI I am of the bigger size and have a very high weight and bmi and would like to know before I waste 40 dollars
The maximum weight is 450 pounds. I am having issues with the physical fitness and balanced eating sections. They show up as locked when I’ve gone through all the games ‘explanations’. Anyone know if this is programmed in, or if mine is just glitching?
I just got this last week and it’s definitely been a great motivator!
Pixey: mine lock up when I’ve wrapped the day, so when it asks you if you want to wrap the day when you’ve put some of your daily food intake in, say no until you really are done everything. If it persists, I’d bring it back.
When I bought mine, the pedometre wasn’t working well and I went back to the store to exchange it with no problems.
So far, the tips, coaching sessions and motivation this game has provided me surpass any other weight loss method I’ve tried. My fiancé and I are getting married next summer and I decided it was time I took my weight loss seriously. Together, we researched the pros and cons of this game versus the Wii Fit and decided that although this was twice the price (I purchased the DS solely for this game while we already had a Wii) it was the better choice because in addition to challenging you to walk more, do small exercises, etc, it also calculates your daily caloric intake with your daily exercise and incorporates nutrition with fitness while the Wii Fit only focuses on fitness and physical activity.
In addition, the fact that the DS was portable provided me with a no excuses approach: I can take it with me anywhere, the pedometre is on me all the time and my food is inputed immediately upon eating so I can’t cheat or decide I’m too busy one evening to turn on the Wii and TV to do exercises.
However, this is like all other weight loss tactics: the responsibility lies on the user to stick to it.
So far, my fiancé and I give it two thumbs up. Plus we love the graphs that it creates with your BMI/weightloss/activity/etc.
