Even More Tips for Getting More Fruits and Vegetables

Here are some great tips for how you can get pack more healthy fruits and vegetables into your life for a number of added health benefits that will help you loose weight and improve your overall health.

Tip #19 - Try chilling out by purchasing frozen fruits and vegetables.
When you eat freshly thawed frozen vegetables and fruits, they may actually be more nutritious for you than the fresh varieties that have been allowed to sit for several days. You can add frozen and thawed fruits and vegetables to nearly any dish and it will increase your daily intake of these fresh and natural food options.

Tip #20 - Enjoy soups that are based in vegetables. There are plenty of canned soup varieties that are loaded up with vegetables. If your favorite variety of soup is particularly low on veggies, feel free to add your won fresh spinach, tomatoes, peppers and cabbage to make the soup stretch further and more healthy along the way.

Tip #21 - Enjoy a nice cold glass of 100% fruit juice or vegetable juice in place of coffee, soda or tea. One single glass of 6 or 8 ounces of juice is a really delicious way for you to get in a serving worth of fruits and vegetables with little effort.

Tip #22 - Dine out smarter. There are many ethnic dishes out there that are not only naturally healthy, but also naturally loaded with fresh vegetables such as Indian food, Japanese food, Mexican food and Thai food. Keep an eye out for dishes with lots of veggies to make it easier for you to enjoy your food while getting healthy at the same time.

Tip #23 - Ditch energy bars and get your energy from fruit and vegetables instead. Portable fruit varieties like dried fruit, grapes, bananas and apples are great for giving you a natural energy boost without all the sugar and additives.

Tip #24 - Add spice and pizzazz to your pizzas by loading up your pizzas with fresh vegetables like spinach, red onions, artichokes, tomatoes and pineapples. These food varieties are much better for you than fattening cheese and meat, but they have plenty of flavor.

Tip #25 - Dress up ordinary salads by mixing in leafy Romaine lettuce, roasted red peppers, chickpeas, carrots, tomatoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables. Absolutely anything can go into a salad, including fresh fruits if you choose.

Tip #26 - You can use vegetables to make your comfort foods healthier. By adding broccoli to your macaroni and cheese, adding berries to your ice cream, or adding frozen peas to your casseroles in order to help to meet your daily vegetable quota.

Great post, great ideas!

I love smoothies. I try to add extra greens in whatever I make to make sure I get plenty in my diet. For example, adding a handful of spinach to a fruit smoothie doesn’t change the taste and a greens powder with spirulina can also go relatively unnoticed.
