The right weight benches can make or break your home gym. You need a good set of benches to work the upper body, especially for bench presses and chest flies. Specialized benches are also available for bicep curls, abs, and dumbbells. The preacher curl bench is specifically designed to keep the arms stable during bicep curls. Usually, a curl bar is used with a preacher curl bench, but dumbbells or even a regular straight bar will work as well. These benches are generally smaller and more portable than any other type, making them a good choice for a home gym. Ab weight benches are set at a decline and have foot holders at the higher end. This allows you to hook your feet onto the bench and get an extra-tough ab workout without sliding off the low end of the bench. A dumbbell bench is a simple flat bench (may be adjustable) with no barbell rack at the end.
When choosing a bench, be sure it will hold the amount of weight you will be using. Beginners or women will be safe with a basic weight bench, but powerlifters may need extra reinforcement. If this is the case, an Olympic weight bench is probably a better choice for you. They are designed to support larger bars and more weight. Pf Bloggers Weight Loss Challenge - My Part Baker of Man vs. Debt recently turned some e-mails and twitter convesations into a PF Blogger Weight Loss Challenge. The challenge will last 2 months--from June 1 to July 31, 61 days.
