Belts Strength Training Gym, Workout & Yoga Exercise & Fitness
Belts are an essential part of any weightlifter's gym equipment. Support for your lower back is important to prevent injury, whether you are a competitive bodybuilder or just a weekend warrior. Weight lifting belts are different than back braces, so you must still be careful not to overexert yourself. A back brace provides support while weight lifting belts only provide stability for the muscles of the lower back.Discount & Bargain
Wearing weight lifting belts can reduce the compression on your spinal discs by as much as half when doing a strenous lift like squats. The belt works by compressing the contents of the abdominal cavity, which provides more support for the spine. Along with reducing pressure on the spine, belts are designed to prevent hyperextension of the back on overhead lifts. The belts must be worn tight to be effective, which can raise blood pressure. Wearing the belt only when needed on a lift will decrease the risk of high blood pressure.
When selecting a weight belt, choose one that is the right size for you. Most people can use the 4 inch wide belt with no problems, but taller or shorter people may need a different size. The standard 4 inch belt is suited for lifting weights up to 500 pounds. Taller people may prefer a belt that is 6 inches wide or even larger. You want adequate abdominal coverage without it being too wide and pinching at the ribs. Belts are usually made of neoprene or leather, with leather providing more support and neoprene generally being more comfortable.
