You can get a full body gym workout with only a set of resistance bands. Abdominals, biceps curls, triceps extensions, shoulder press, and a number of leg exercises can be done with resistance bands. Some good leg exercises include squats, lunges, reverse lunges, and step-ups. The tension will increase as you pull the band, creating more resistance when your muscles are at the point of full contraction. This leads to far greater strength gains with resistance bands than with traditional strength training.
As you progress in your workout and become stronger, you will need tighter resistance bands. Just as you would have to increase the weight on the bar in the gym, you may have to replace your old bands to keep seeing strength gains. It is usually best to have a variety of resistance bands on hand because different muscle groups may be stronger than others.
