Desperate Dieters – What Goes Wrong

There are a lot of desperate dieters out there, who feel like if they don't act now, they will never lose that pesky weight. Unfortunately, desperate dieting is the worst type of dieting that you could ever pursue, because it involves dangerous fad diets, diet pills and other diet shortcuts that not only won't deliver healthy results, but could actually be extremely bad for you. So what goes wrong when it comes to desperate dieting? By acting so desperately, most dieters are not using common sense, because they are too consumed with losing weight to think about what the effects are that these desperate diet tactics are actually having.

Luckily there is a better way to lose weight and it doesn't involve dieting desperately or taking advantage of unhealthy fad diets, diet shortcuts and other unhealthy means of losing weight. The first step in this process is simply to relax yourself, because it is really not as bad as you think. All great breakthroughs may come from either inspiration or through desperation, but simply feeling desperate does not mean that you have to behave desperately in order to get the results that you seek. You are already on the right path to changing your life simply because you have expressed a desperate need to lose weight. Now is your chance to formulate a plan that is going to drive the results that you need, allowing you to lose weight in a healthy and positive manner.

Do not take desperate measures to lose weight, because they will only cause harm. Instead, you need to sit down and formulate a plan. There are lots of different plans out there that are already established by dieticians, personal trainers, health and nutrition experts and doctors. Some of these plans work better than others, and there is no real one size fits all solution for everyone. Weigh your options and look at different plans to figure out which you feel most comfortable with. If you want to achieve the results that you are looking for, then your only option is to choose a plan that will allow you to achieve those results. You do not want to fly blind when it comes to losing weight, as this is only going to keep you from reaching the success that you hope to achieve.

If you do not want to come up short and end up disappointed, then you need to formulate a plan rather than desperately dieting. Get started today, not tomorrow, not next week, not on the first of the month. Start today, the moment that you have chosen to make a change, and do everything that you can from this moment on to achieve the goals that you have set forth for yourself. Once you have decided to make a change, follow through immediately and it will make all the difference.

When will we ever learn?

Successful weight loss requires a complete change in lifestyle.

Quick fix diets may or may not work in the short term, but the sure as heck don’t work in the long term.

Come this January, Amazon et al will sell thousands of celebrity endorsed diet & workout books/DVDs.

And by Feb/March, most of those books will be gathering dust on a bookshelf and their owners will be busy re-gaining the 10 pounds they lost on their New Years Resolution Diet

great article. I find it helpful to focus on goals I know that I can acheive. For example, instead of trying to lose 5 lbs in 2 weeks, I’ll focus on eating 7 or more servings of fruit and vegetables or not snacking after dinner. By making my goals totally under my control, I focus on changing my unhealthy habits to healthier ones and the weightloss becomes a byproduct of healthy living.

Like I say, nothing worth having happens over night. Nowadays a lot of people just wanna pop a pill or do a crash diet. I agree with DR when he said that successful weight loss comes with a change of lifestyle.
