There are more than 10,000 Curves locations in the world now. Curves is designed to signify vitality, femininity and strength and it promises to provide permanent results without the need for permanent dieting. The theory behind this diet is that your metabolism needs to be reprogrammed with a bit of a tune up so that your body will begin to work more efficiently for a healthier you. The Curves diet offers two different eating plans because it is recognized that there is no one size fits all solution to dieting for everyone. One Curves diet plan is known as the carbohydrate sensitive plan, and the other Curves diet plan is known as the calorie sensitive plan. If the first choice that you make does not suit your needs, then there is nothing wrong with switching to the other eating plan to try something different.
The carbohydrate sensitive eating plan consists of a high protein diet with limited carbohydrates. The calorie sensitive plan is a typical diet requiring that you count calories. There are three phases associated with each of these plans depending on which plan you decide to follow, and there is nothing against switching back and forth between the different eating plans in order to best meet your dietary and nutritional needs.
Both meal plans incorporate six small meals in place of three large ones. In phase 1, the plan states that you will lose weight rapidly. It promises that you can shed as many as ten pounds in a period of two weeks. In the second phase of the plan, you should be losing between one and two lbs per week. By the time phase two ends, you should have reached your desired weight, you should need a break from the program, or you should be ready to start over with a tune up again if you have reached a plateau.
Exercise is a key component as part of the Curves diet. The workout for the Curves diet incorporates both cardiovascular training and strength training. You do not have to belong to Curves to participate in this program, but it is definitely useful.
