			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="left" title="Fullbar" src="http://www.weightladder.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/fullbar.jpg" alt="Fullbar"  />Recently, I had the pleasure of being contacted by a representative of <a href="http://drmichaelsnyder.com/blog/">Dr. Michael Snyder</a>.  Dr. Snyder is a Bariatric surgeon.  He wanted me to try something for free... No it was not a complementary Bariatric surgery. <img src='http://www.weightladder.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>It turns out that Dr. Snyder had invented a product called the <a href="http://www.fullbar.com/">FullBar</a>.  The idea behind the Fullbar is to provide a healthy and delicious bar when eaten with a glass of water fills your stomach and provides the felling of of being full.  Clever name right?</p>
<p>So, the complimentary bars arrived Thursday.  There were 3 flavors in my package: Cocoa Crisp, Penut Butter Crunch, and Carmel Apple Crisp.  I can attest they all taste great and are made with great ingredients like <a href="http://www.weightladder.com/2008/07/05/agave-nectar-complex-carbohydrate-sugar-substitute/">Agave Nectar</a> and Brown Rice Syrup.  From a hunger control stand point they work too...  I ate mine with lunch and had a hard time eating anything for lunch or dinner.</p>
<p>My concern was the calories, carbs, and the protein to carb ratio.  At 170 calories the bar is 14% of my daily allowance.  The bar contains 31g of carbohydrates and only 4 g of dietary fiber; therefore, a countable carbohydrate count of 27g.  That is 3 of my 6 carbohydrates for the day.    The bar contains 5g of protein, which give the bar a 5:1 carbohydrate to protein ratio.  The ratio was the issue my weight loss doctor had with the bars. In order to balance the ratio I ate the bars with 2 servings of <a href="http://www.weightladder.com/2008/06/25/snacking-without-ruining-your-diet/">roasted edamame</a>.</p>
<p>Intellectually, the glycemic index of the carbs should be taken into account, but at this time such information is not available and has not been incorporated into the nutritional labels of products in the United States.  For example, refined sugar is not the same as Agave Nectar yet the grams of carbohydrates count the same in my diet.</p>
<p>Up until my own doctor pointed out the high amount and ratio of carbs I was very high on this product. Unfortunately, this product doesn't fit into my medically assisted diet. That doesn't change the fact, I think this product could help a lot of people.<br />

What if you could change that mindset and look at dieting as being fun? How would that impact how you feel about losing weight? Chances are, it would make it a lot easier and you’d be surprised at how simple it can be to change your mindset and get some great results. Let’s look at just a few ways that you can make dieting fun.</p>
<h3><strong>1. Set up some great rewards. </strong></h3>
<p>When you’re working towards something that is really exciting, it’s just a whole lot easier to get there. Try setting up fun rewards for yourself for reaching specific milestones. Whether it’s losing ten pounds, or getting healthier, you need to find a way to reward yourself in a fun way. Just remember that this fun should not include food rewards, or you’ll be sabotaging all of your efforts. Try to stick with fun rewards that involve some sort of activity, or even relaxation. You’ll be much more likely to want to stick to your goals if you set yourself up for success.</p>
<h3><strong>2. Make it an adventure in learning new ways to prepare food. </strong></h3>
<p>This is a great way to make dieting a lot more fun and you’ll be bolstering your cooking skills while you’re at it. Get some new cook books and try out brand new recipes that you normally wouldn’t even touch. Make it an adventure to try out new food from different countries, and challenge yourself to find healthy ways to start preparing your regular food. Once again, by putting an element of fun into your daily food regime, you can easily start looking forward to eating healthier and that right there can mean big success.</p>
<h3><strong>3. Join a fun exercise class. </strong></h3>
<p>Exercise is hard for many people due to repletion, as well as the physical effort that goes into it. However, if you can find an exercise class that is also fun, you may find that you end up looking forward to going. Sweating to the Oldies is successful for a reason – the participants have fun, even though they are working out. Look into belly dancing classes, hoop dancing or other fun ways to get active and burn calories. You’ll undoubtedly find that getting to the gym is a whole lot easier when you do.</p>
<h3><strong>4. Have a friend join you for some competitive fun. </strong></h3>
<p>When you’re held to accountability by a challenge it’s a lot easier to have fun with what you’re doing and to stick to your goals. Try racing a friend to see who can lose weight faster, or reach certain fitness goals. You’ll be having fun while you stay competitive and for many, this is just <a href="http://www.weightladder.com/4-tips-on-how-to-get-active-right-now/">the right motivation to help them lose weight and get healthier</a>.</p>
<p>These are just a few ways that you can introduce an element of fun to losing weight. Get creative and see how many you can come up with!</p>

<h3><strong>6 - Exercise - </strong></h3>
<p>Daily activity is a really important part of the equation, along with including periods of structured, intense activity, or 'working out'. This should cover resistance training to build long, lean and strong muscles, and also cardio training to strengthen the heart and promote weight loss. Ideally you should aim to be spending 45 to 60 minutes exercising, at least 3 times a week.</p>
<h3><strong>7 - Stress Management and Time Management - </strong></h3>
<p>You are going to need to prioritize your health if you want to be able to deal with everything that life throws at you. Once you have acknowledged the fact that you're going to make your health a priority, the next step is to figure out how to make it happen. Cut time wasters and stress inducers out of your diet, by reducing TV, eliminating clutter, squeezing in more exercise and do other things that will help you better manage your time and your stress.</p>
<h3><strong>8 - Recovery - </strong></h3>
<p>Rest and recovery are absolutely encouraged. You are going to want to make sure that you are getting an adequate amount of rest between your intense sessions of training. Some people go too hard at the outset without rest, and end up putting themselves at risk of injury or illness as a result. You should plan your workout days in advance, sticking to them, and give yourself adequate recovery time in between. Active recovery can include swimming, walking and cycling, as these activities will keep the blood flowing without requiring that you tax your body in any way. Getting enough rest is also vital to this process, so aim for between 7 and 9 hours a night.</p>
<h3><strong>9 - Consistency - </strong></h3>
<p>No matter what nutrition plan or training program you decide to follow, the best way to get success is to be consistent. As long as the diet or exercise program is a quality approach, then consistency is the key to achieving success. You will find that certain approaches are going to work better for you than others, but focus less on the details and try to focus more on making sure that the changes are being implemented as long term, ongoing and consistent changes for the best level of weight loss success.</p>
<h3><strong>10 - Record and Review - </strong></h3>
<p>In order to really figure out whether or not things are working, you need to be able to take measurements of yourself at the beginning, re-measuring on a regular basis. Logging what you are doing and how changes are being made is extremely important, so log your food intake and your exercise and activity as well. This is one of the most important things that you can do in order to ensure success, because it provides you with a level of accountability that will help to get things done.</p>
