It is never too late for you to begin a journey in health and wellness. Here is five of ten tips that you can begin today in order to build a foundation for your health and wellness program.
- Write Your Goals Out - Put your goals and desires to paper. What is your own personal vision of wellness? Where would you like to be in a year, three years or five years from now? Set goals for each week and three months from now that work with your wellness vision and where you intend to be in the future. Your goals should be SMART, which means that they should be Specific rather than broad, Measurable rather than open ended, Action-based, Realistic rather than based on unobtainable dreams and Time-Oriented rather than broad.
- Ask Questions - You need to make a list of any and all hurdles that are getting in your way as you try to life a well life. Then you need to determine which ones of these things are true obstacles that you are going to need to work around. You also need to determine which ones of these things are simply excuses, which you can get rid of accordingly.
- Develop a Plan - Very few major tasks can be accomplished when there isn't a plan in place. You need to be able to lay out a specific plan for accomplishing the goals that you have set, and you need to come up with concrete solutions for overcoming any hurdles that stand in the way. Once you have a flexible but strong plan, you can make it active and get the ball rolling on your own wellness plan.
- Commit to a Journal - Your goals, your desires, your obstacles and barriers, your excuses and your plan and solution should all be part of a wellness journey journal. This should be your own personal journal, something that you feel confident and comfortable using. Let your thoughts flow and see where they take you. You can use a personal journal to let your feelings out, to vent your frustrations, to rejoice about your accomplishments and to celebrate the goals that you achieve. You will find yourself amazed at how truly freeing it can be to have a private journal that you can turn to in times of happiness and sadness alike.
- Begin Your Journey Now - Why not begin your journey right now where you are standing (or sitting)? Where you are at this very moment, right now, is a great place for you to begin your journey. Accept where you currently are, accept where you need to be, and then begin right now to take the steps that are necessary to finally bridge the gap between who you are and who you would like to be.
