Jorge Cruise made his name with his "8 minutes" line of workout videos. As a well known fitness trainer, he has taken advantage of the short workout routine popularity surge. The three hour diet is logically the extension to his regular fitness routines, bringing a diet regime that suits the average consumer.
Eating Every 3 Hours
This 3-hour diet is really all about frequency of meals. By eating every 3 hours, your blog sugar levels are going to be significantly more consistent, and your metabolism is going to constantly remain at a more heightened state.
For most people, what this is going to translate into is about 5 meals every day, meaning breakfast, a snack, then lunch, a snack, and then dinner. This three hour diet addresses both processed foods and fast foods, and one of the sales pitches for this diet is that you can still eat some of the junk foods that you love while continuing to lose weight.
With this diet, food groups absolutely should be combined together, such as by eating protein along with fat and carbohydrates, and incorporating fruit and vegetables as well whenever possible. It is recommended that you drink 8 glasses of water every day at a minimum.
The principles of nutrition, exercise and eating frequently are quite an effective strategy when it comes to losing weight. Sometimes this diet seems to be trying too hard to be popular as it describes a method of choosing the proper portion rather than counting calories, and then later it goes on to restrict those portions to calorie counts, contradicting itself in the process.
This book also criticizes diets that are low in carbohydrates, considering that low carbohydrate diets do work for many people, especially those that are sensitive to carbohydrates.
If you are just beginning on the journey to understanding good nutrition and good weight management, then this book could prove to be useful, but it should only be a beginning foundation and not a long term diet. Because it is including so many processed foods and junk foods, it really is not teaching good tenets of nutrition and weight loss. It treats weight loss and good nutrition as two separate things, focusing only on losing weight without putting enough emphasis on maintaining good nutrition in the process. So while this is a diet that will benefit some individuals, it is certainly not the solution for everyone, especially not those individuals that are looking for a healthy and natural diet in place of processed and refined foods.
Cruise makes some pretty outrageous claims regarding exercise as well, saying that you can burn 2 lbs of belly fat every week, which is not possible since you cannot spot reduce your body fat. Your body fat is going to burn off from all over, and it is different for every person so there is no way to guarantee belly fat loss.
